'Fire' aboard an IndiGo aeroplane headed for Bengaluru triggered a full emergency at the Delhi airport.

In a statement, IndiGo said that the takeoff had been cancelled and that the plane had safely returned to the airport. After investigating the event, officials have been tasked by the Ministry of Civil Aviation with submitting a report.
 
After a suspected fire started aboard IndiGo Airlines aircraft 6E2131, which was headed to Bengaluru, on Friday night, a major emergency was declared at the IGI airport in Delhi. Following the alleged spark, the flight was grounded.

In a statement, IndiGo said that the takeoff had been cancelled and that the plane had safely returned to the port. It also lamented the discomfort the passengers had to endure.

"During the takeoff roll, an aircraft operating flight 6E2131 from Delhi to Bangalore had an engine stall. The aircraft safely returned to the bay after the takeoff was cancelled. A different aircraft is being used to accommodate all passengers. The airline issued a statement saying, "We apologise the difficulty we caused the travellers.

In the meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has instructed officials to investigate the event and submit a report. The ministry tweeted, "Concerned personnel at @DGCAIndia have been ordered to investigate into this and give a report as soon as possible."

Priyanka Kumar, a passenger, tweeted a video of the event that appeared to show one of the engines on fire and shooting sparks, describing it as a "scary experience on Delhi runway."
