A police officer is killed in a shootout at a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police, the confrontation resulted in the death of a well-known mobster.
 

A gangster was shot dead and a police officer succumbed to his injuries during a shootout at Government Medical College in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma sustained critical injuries following an encounter with the gangsters on the college premises. Additionally, a special police officer was wounded during the incident.

Reports indicate that a police team pursued members of the Shunoo Group, allegedly led by Vasudev, resulting in the gangsters driving their vehicle onto the medical college campus. The police successfully cornered them on the premises.

During the ensuing confrontation, one gangster was fatally shot. Sub-Inspector Sharma suffered critical injuries from a gunshot wound to the head. After receiving initial treatment in Kathua, the injured officer was transferred to Pathankot in Punjab, where he passed away this morning, as per officials.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to the fallen officer, praising Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma's bravery and sacrifice in taking down a notorious gangster in Kathua. He expressed his deepest condolences to Sharma's family and vowed that every drop of the officer's blood will be avenged. Solidarity was also extended to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their unwavering dedication and courage in the face of various challenges. The commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment in J&K was reiterated by Mr. Sinha.
