DRDO and the Indian Air Force successfully tested India's first indigenously built long-range bomb.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully flight-tested the country's first indigenously developed long-range bomb (LRB) from a fighter jet over Balasore, Odisha, on Friday.

The bomb belongs to a class of weapons with a range of 50 to 150 kilometers. The authorities did not reveal any information regarding the weapons but did say that the LRB was tested from an airborne platform.

According to the Defense Ministry, the bomb "was guided to a land-based target at a long-range with accuracy within specified limitations after being released by the IAF fighter aircraft." "All mission goals were met satisfactorily," it went on to say.

The flight and performance of the bomb were tracked by a number of range sensors, including the Electro-Optical Tracking System (EOTS), Telemetry, and radar deployed by the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur in Odisha, according to the release.

The bomb was created and produced by the DRDO's Hyderabad-based Research Centre Imarat (RCI) laboratory in collaboration with other DRDO institutes. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh thanked the DRDO and the Air Force on the successful flight test, saying it will be a force multiplier for the armed forces.
