PM Modi Will Speak Washington's Sold-Out Diaspora Celebration

Washington: According to a community leader in charge of organising the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss the importance of the diaspora in India's development during his presentation to Indian Americans here the following week.
From June 21 to 24, Prime Minister Modi will be in the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. On June 22, they will welcome PM Modi at a state banquet. On June 22, the visit will also include a speech before the joint session of Congress.

It is a sold-out event, according to Chicago-based Dr. Bharat Barai, who was in Washington, DC on Wednesday to finalise plans for the event the following week. Registration has been completed for all 838 seats, he said.

The host committee's registrations as well as all other registrations are now closed. Because we only had 838 tickets, we had an amazing amount of interest via word of mouth. Thus, there was no capacity and no time for us to promote abroad, Barai told PTI.

"We used the database we had from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's earlier public gatherings, and even before we could contact the individuals, they contacted us and it's all filled up," he added.

On June 23, Modi will give a speech to a select group of national diaspora leaders gathered at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington.

"The role of the diaspora in India's growth story will be the subject. In order to assist India and its citizens in adjusting to their new location in the world, the diaspora wants to explore what it can do "explained Barai.

He said the organisers wanted to make it largely an engagement between the diaspora and the prime minister, noting that the event will have relatively few cultural components.

The diaspora is really happy to have someone with such vision and drive, who has helped India become the fifth-largest economy in the world. Also, he improved India's standing, according to him.

Amitabh Mittal, a native of Chicago, expressed his gratitude to US President Joe Biden for inviting Modi on a state visit.

He is an action-oriented man. India has been changed by him. India has been waiting for someone like him to arrive and assume leadership, according to Mittal.

Mittal anticipated the prime minister will declare something on the October Hindu Heritage Month.

"In the past two years, we had already received his letter twice. Yet, because he is physically present, I would really like for him to remark that October is recognised as Hindu Heritage Month.

Not just in America, but also in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and six other nations, and we now have 30 proclamations, said Mittal.
