Pakistan is prepared to play in India, however..., the PCB tells the ICC, in its World Cup 2023 matchup against India.

In order to obtain assurances from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that it won't push for the implementation of a hybrid model for its matches in the ODI World Cup in India later this year, the International Cricket Council's (ICC) chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice are in Lahore, according to a report by PTI citing insiders.

The pair also asked PCB for guarantees about the participation of the Pakistani side at the World Cup in India. It is said that PCB President Najam Sethi has approved of it. He did, however, say that the PCB might petition the ICC to hold Pakistan's matches at a neutral location if the Pakistani government doesn't give approval or has security concerns about sending the team to India.

Since Pakistan's unqualified participation in games in India would ensure the success of Indo-Pakistan matches as well as the tournament itself, naturally neither the ICC nor the BCCI want such a situation, he said.'

According to a different source, Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, was still hesitant to endorse the hybrid Asia Cup concept and support having three or four of the tournament's games played in Pakistan and the rest matches played in the UAE or Sri Lanka.

The Asia Cup is being hosted by Pakistan, and Sethi has stated repeatedly that Pakistan will not participate in the competition if the tournament is shifted to another neutral country. Also, he made a suggestion that the World Cup might suffer if Pakistan wasn't allowed to host some Asia Cup games.

Earlier, Sethi stated that if the Rohit Sharma-led squad does not visit Pakistan for the preceding Asia Cup, the team will not travel to India for the World Cup. The hybrid approach that Sethi is promoting worries the ICC and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the nation that will host the World Cup.

Although Sethi proposed the hybrid format for the Asia Cup, which comes before the ICC event, there is still concern that, should it be approved for the regional competition, the PCB would subsequently urge the ICC to use it for the World Cup when Pakistan plays in India, he said.The ICC representatives are attempting to serve as a mediator between the PCB and BCCI and find solutions to the unresolved problems around the Asia Cup and World Cup.
