Young Self-Made Entrepreneur changes the face of Gifting: Meet Brinda Rajpopat, the girl who elevated ‘Concept Gifting’ with her company – Petikaa Gift Studio
Be it corporate gifting or wedding favors, concept gifting has been very limited to the occasion that it serves. The only time you see corporates even trying concept gifting is during festivals. Brinda Rajpopat, our 28 year of young entrepreneur saw this as an opportunity to use her creative mind and her artistic skills to build a business that mints money.
Brinda started her company, Petikaa Gift Studio when she was 26. In just one and half years, her gifting concepts have been loved and appreciated by big brands. Their clientele now includes national names like Swiggy, Homely, IFB, Saagar Hospitals and more.
What Does Petikaa Gift Studio Do?
Petikaa, Founded and Managed by Brinda is a well-oiled machine run by a small and effective team. Here they provide distinctive concept gifting services that go beyond mugs and sippers. Each of their gift-hamper is themed and personalized. Of course the occasional gift hampers like birthday hampers, Anniversary hampers, baby hampers etc. are personalized to names, but even the big corporate orders made for 1000+ employees are personalized to their names if opted by the organization.
This level of personalization is rare in the Indian market, and Petikaa Gift Studio takes it to another level by adding personalized hand written notes, audio messages, technology driven notes and more as a part of their gifting.
How did she stumble upon this idea?
Brinda learnt to be financially independent early on in her life. She did ask for pocket money, she earned her share and her parents have always been proud of that. From age of 16, she would teach dance and earn out of it. “Once I began working, I realized I couldn’t stop. Even now, if I don’t have a task for myself, I find one. I like being occupied. It makes me feel useful and independent. Even when I was 16, those 2000 rupees I earned from teaching dance were enough to motivate me. That is when I knew that I wanted to grow old and be my own boss. It took time but I made it”, she adds.
Her drive is what got her here. When the first lockdown lifted, she realized that even in a pandemic, people were spending money on gifting. If she could just club her creative thoughts with this, it could make a good product and that is exactly what she did.
The process
Previous to Petikaa Gift Studio, Brinda worked for a renowned agency as a senior content manager and even though she loved her colleagues and her workplace, the drive to do more was never-ending. In spite of the numerous responsibilities she had, she knew that courage was the only thing that would free her from this cycle.
Therefore, she didn’t let the scarcity of funds stop her from starting out. “The courage it took was unquestionable. I was afraid, especially because a lot was riding on it including financial security for my family. But I felt like if I don’t take this leap of faith now, I never will” she says with gusto.
As a result of her determination and endurance, Petikaa Gift Studio is now one of the most appreciated and fast growing gifting companies in India.
