Doctors For A Cause is a non-governmental organization registered under The Indian Trust Act,1882 focused on educating, empowering, and enlightening people with a solid foundation of scientific medical knowledge. The roots of the organization lay in Kolkata and Chennai, but our branches are spread pan-India and abroad. Students from different places actively engage in DFC’s online events and on-ground activities.

We have conducted health camps and public health education skits for the population as well as educative master classes, competitions, and webinars for students. Under the umbrella of DFC, we have eight task forces- Animal Welfare, Women’s Health and Safety, support for the Differently Abled, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Mental Health, Academics and Education, support for LGBTQ+ and Public Health.

In the past few years, we have organized medical quizzes, game shows, a virtual pride parade, taught Indian Sign Language, and engaged with people far and wide to raise empathy and awareness. In the coming years, we hope to grow our family with postgraduate residents and non-medical students and together, continue to choose humanity. We have garnered a sustainable online and offline reach with Facebook at 14K followers and Instagram at 5K. Our offline reach is bigger as we have percolated in different medical colleges all over India.

We work to raise public awareness and enlightenment, as well as to make knowledge and healthcare available to all. It. But, it goes without saying that DFC is the product of the blood, sweat, and tears of numerous like-minded, forward-thinking individuals that decided to put the needs of the community above the needs of their own.

Since the time we started with one Orphanage visit, it continued to grow into various health camps and health awareness drives. We also rolled out some mega projects like fundraising for the Amphan Relief and an original street play to spread awareness about HIV across the streets of Kolkata. Even though during the pandemic, our doctors have occupied saving lives on the field, our student body did not stop the wonderful work and was involved with plenty of online projects. We also held online health camps with other organizations and did various online academic projects with some incredible teaching faculty of India.

As we enter the post-COVID phase, we aim to do healthcare drives in every part of India and for every age and gender. We have also started a mega project which aims to identify and eliminate malnutrition in India. We have received love and support from innumerable organizations and individuals who believe in our vision and we hope that we continue to get the support of such wonderful people.
