Gold and silver prices on the worldwide market: According to Reuters, gold prices fell on Tuesday to their lowest in more than a week, as U.S. Treasury yields soared ahead of the Federal Reserve's expected rate hike. Furthermore, expectations for progress in Russia-Ukraine talks weakened the metal's safe-haven attractiveness.

According to the most recent metal report, spot gold was down 0.4 percent at $1,942.96 per ounce, after hitting a low of $1,940 earlier in the session. Meanwhile, gold futures in the United States slipped 0.5 percent to $1,951.20.
