On Monday, the retail price of gasoline in Odisha remained stable. In Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the state capital, petrol and diesel prices remained mostly unchanged.
Customers in the capital city of Bhubaneswar are allegedly spending Rs 103.1 per liter of petrol today, while diesel costs Rs 94.58 per liter.
Similarly, in Cuttack, petrol and diesel are offered at Rs 103.58 and Rs 95.13 per liter, respectively.
According to the gasoline rate table, the price of petrol in Ganjam continues at Rs 104.11, while petrol in Malkangiri is sold at Rs 109.20. Similarly, the fuel product costs Rs 103.75 in Sambalpur. Meanwhile, the price of petrol in Bhadrak is Rs 103.75 and in Koraput, it is Rs 107.72.
On June 8, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das backed the Union government's call for states to reduce sales tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel, saying that lowering VAT on fuel will help ease inflationary pressures and expectations.
On May 21, the central government lowered excise duties on petrol and diesel by a record Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre, respectively, to provide relief to consumers who have been hit by high fuel prices, which have also driven inflation to an all-time high. It asked states at the time to cut their VAT rates in order to provide even more relief. Almost no state lowered the VAT rate.
