Meet Akarsh Agrawal, who was recently awarded with 30 under 30 for inspiring & rising entrepreneurs by Business Mint in Ed-Tech.

Akarsh's passion for education stems from his early life experiences. Born in a small town in Bihar called Samastipur, his father had to move outside of Bihar in the 90s for better educational opportunities for Akarsh. This early exposure to the importance of education laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey in the ed-tech space. He completed his M.Tech from the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. ProGrad is his 3rd startup venture and first in the EdTech space.

Akarsh has over a decade long experience in the tech industry, starting early in his career and providing technology from his earlier venture Gorismo to grow startups with the likes of OWLR and OYO, which gave an early exposure to the industry-leading technology standards even before finishing college. He realized that there was a gap in the ed-tech market that he could fill. He wanted to create a platform that would help students learn and grow in a more efficient and effective way.

Edtech where there are already established players with big pockets in the market. Akarsh with his other co-founders and an awesome team took a B2B route to establish their mettle in the industry, enabling Prograd in providing industry-leading tech practices and training/ upskilling college graduates from tier 2 to tier 4 colleges and uplifting them to get jobs which were only available to Tier 1 colleges earlier. The gap between a college graduate and industry needs is nothing new, and probably as old as the tech industry itself. While other players in the market charge candidates for upskilling, ProGrad provides these services completely free for the candidates, completely democratizing the ed-tech space and making state-of-the-art industry practices reachable to candidates across India and probably to the world soon.
