New Prices for Petrol and Diesel Have Been Released; See Kolkata, Chennai, and Other Cities' Fuel Costs

Price of petrol and diesel today:  On Tuesday, May 2, the cost of petrol and diesel remained the same in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Over the past eleven months, prices for petrol and diesel have remained constant.

Diesel costs Rs 89.62 per litre in Delhi right now, while gasoline costs Rs 96.72 per litre. While in Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 106.31 and a litre of diesel costs Rs 94.27. Diesel costs Rs 92.76 and petrol Rs 106.03 per litre in Kolkata, respectively. On the other side, in Chennai, gasoline costs Rs 102.63 and diesel Rs 94.24 a litre.

Fuel prices, however, decreased in states like West Bengal and Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, petrol has decreased in price by 41 paise and diesel by 39 paise. Diesel and petrol are now both 26 paise and 25 paise less expensive in Punjab. In Uttar Pradesh, the cost of petrol and diesel has decreased by 25 pesos. In West Bengal, petrol has decreased in price by 44 pesos and diesel by 41 pesos.

Since May 21 of last year, when the previous pan-India modification was published, petrol and diesel prices have been consistent throughout the nation with the exception of a few isolated instances. However, petrol costs exceeded the Rs 100 mark in many cities.

- Rs 89.75 per litre of diesel and Rs 96.58 in Ghaziabad.

- Petrol in Lucknow is now Rs 96.57 per litre and diesel is Rs 89.76.

- Petrol costs Rs 107.42 and diesel Rs 94.04 per litre in Patna.

Petrol has increased to Rs 84.10 and diesel to Rs 79.74 per litre in Port Blair.

Prices for petrol and diesel are set in India by oil marketing companies (OMCs) such Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum. Rates are set daily, according to the global price of crude oil, and this is done on an ongoing basis.
