Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor, opened in theatres on Friday after a few setbacks. The picture is having a slow start at the box office, owing to the fact that Yash's KGF Chapter 2 remains a popular pick among moviegoers across the country.

Jersey earned Rs 3.75 crore in its first day, according to Box Office India. KGF 2, which grossed Rs 11.56 crore in the Hindi belt, faced tight competition. KGF 2 will cross the Rs 300 crore mark this weekend (Hindi), indicating a quiet weekend for Jersey, according to film sector expert Taran Adarsh.


Jersey, according to film trade exhibitor Akshaye Rathi, would not have a 'ballistic' opening. "In terms of box office, I don't think Jersey will open ballistically," he told indianexpress.com. It's a film that will gain popularity by word of mouth and receive positive reviews. It may not be a terrific start, but it will improve with each passing day and produce a respectable total."

The film Jersey has garnered mixed reviews from reviewers, but the industry has complimented it for its "emotional quotient." Shubhra Gupta, a film critic for the Indian Express, awarded it a 2.5-star rating. "The film comes alive in the passages between Shahid and his real-life father who plays his never-say-die father," she noted in her review.
