At his Mehendi ceremony, Ranbir Kapoor paid tribute to his late father Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir danced with the Kapoors during a surprise performance by the ladkewalas at the Mehendi.

Ranbir is seen in another photo performing a dance with his mother Neetu Kapoor, sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and cousins Karisma and Kareena Kapoor.

After a long fight with cancer, Rishi Kapoor died in April 2020. Neetu Kapoor had previously uploaded a selfie of herself and Ranbir that she had dedicated to her late spouse. The caption stated, "This is dedicated to Kapoor Saab, your desire has been granted."

Randhir Kapoor, Ranbir's uncle, revealed on the day of the wedding that he was missing his late brother. "It's a huge day for the family, and Chintu should have been here," he told Hindustan Times. Every day, we miss him, but today we miss him even more. However, life goes on. It's great to see Ranbir and Alia begin this new chapter together. I wish Rishi had been present to see this moment. I'm missing him terribly today."

Rishi Kapoor was arranging Alia and Ranbir's wedding, according to filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who previously told Bombay Times that he died abruptly. "As good friends, we had a long conversation." He was overjoyed to tell me that they were organizing a lavish wedding for his son Ranbir and Alia in December 2020. "However, he unexpectedly left us all in a state of tremendous anguish," he said.
