The feeling that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is hooked on is a bittersweet one. After the events of Avengers: Endgame concluded with the Guardians accompanying Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on his subsequent cosmic journey, the group of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Groot (Vin Diesel), and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) will return to find the (Zoe Saldana). Gillan hinted that Vol. 3: The Final Chapter will mark the end of a chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an interview with Marvel.com.

The Nebula star remarked at the Thor: Love and Thunder world premiere, "It was such a great experience. I enjoyed working on that movie so much, that I'm about to explode. I adored it, it was so good. It seemed like the family got back together, and I absolutely loved where the character went. I also loved working with James again.

Gillan went on, "I believe this time, we've really upped the ante. It's kind of bittersweet, in a way, since there can be a feeling that a chapter is coming to an end. But for this one, I believe everyone has stepped it up."

Gunn has stated that the trilogy's concluding chapter will be "the last time viewers will see these squad of Guardians," who originally met in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 1.

Gunn stated earlier this year on the Deadline Hero Nation podcast, "This is the end for us." "It's large. It's quite large, gloomy, and different from what one could anticipate."

Added Gunn "I simply want to be faithful to the characters, true to the plot, and true to the audience by giving them the satisfying conclusion to the tale. That usually gives me the creeps."

While the original Gamora (Josh Brolin) was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the Zehoberei warrior's time-displaced former self, who traveled from 2014 to 2023 in Avengers: Endgame, now lives in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Thor: Love and Thunder, which takes place between the events of Endgame and Vol. 3, does not feature Gamora.) When Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premieres in theatres on May 5, 2023, the hunt for Gamora officially starts.

Thor: Love and Thunder, a Marvel Studios production, debuts in theatres on July 8 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe as Zeus, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper as the Guardians of the Galaxy.
