The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited 397 artists and executives to join the Class of 2022 on Tuesday (June 28). Suriya, Kajol, and Reema Kagti will represent India this year. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the Tamil actor.

Suriya has now been chosen to join the ranks of the Oscar organizers. There will be 71 Oscar nominations and 15 wins in the Class of 2022. Suriya is the first Tamil actor to enter the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This is an incredible honor for the performer.

The Directors and Writers branches have also been sent invitations to this year's Oscar winners Ariana DeBose, Troy Kotsur, and CODA writer-director Sian Heder. The invitees must choose a branch and become a member of it. According to Deadline.com, there are 17 AMPAS divisions in all, including Directors and Writers.
