NEW DELHI: In northeast Delhi's Khajuri Khas district, a 5-year-old child was allegedly tied with a rope by her mother and left on the terrace as a punishment for not finishing her homework.

After a video of the event went viral on social media sites, the Delhi police claimed the family was tracked down to the Khajuri Khas neighbourhood on Wednesday. The mother is being prosecuted under the Juvenile Justice Act, they noted.

The girl was seen fighting to free herself beneath the hot heat in the footage.

After the video appeared, teams found the family to Khajuri Khas and met with the parents, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast), Sanjay Kumar Sain. He stated, "Legal action is being taken in this case."

The event was reported on June 2, according to a police official familiar with the situation, and the mother acknowledged to disciplining the daughter for not finishing her schoolwork. According to the police, the girl is in first grade.
