At the request of US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the second Global Covid Virtual Summit on Thursday, May 12.
PM Modi will offer remarks in the opening session on the theme of 'Preventing Pandemic Fatigue and Prioritizing Preparedness,' according to a release from the Ministry of External Affairs. The session will start at 6.30 p.m. and will be a webcast live.
The summit's goal is to address the issues that countries are facing as a result of the Covid epidemic and to develop a better health security architecture for everyone.
India emphasized its role in combating the Covid pandemic by selling low-cost vaccines and medications to other countries, as well as creating low-cost indigenous testing and genetic surveillance technology.
Belize, as Chair of CARICOM, Senegal, as Chair of the African Union, Indonesia, as President of the G20, and Germany, as President of the G7, are co-hosting the event. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, and other dignitaries will also be present.
In September 2021, PM Modi attended the inaugural Global Covid virtual Summit, which was hosted by Biden.
