A celebrated former ISRO scientist aspires for a "plan A" landing during the Chandrayaan 3 moon landing.

Chandrayaan 3 Moon Landing LIVE: Before India, only three nations had accomplished a soft landing on the moon: the United States, Russia, and China.

A celebrated former ISRO scientist aspires for a "plan A" landing during the Chandrayaan 3 moon landing.
On Tuesday, Abhyuday Vidyalaya students gathered at Parshiwadi, Ghatkopar, Bombay, to show their support for the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft. They waved the national flag of India and held a banner.

The lander module of Isro's third lunar mission, Chandrayaan 3, is scheduled to make an attempt at landing on the moon on Wednesday night. India will become the first nation to travel to the Moon's unexplored south pole following a successful soft landing. Chandrayaan 3 is a follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-2 that aims to show off safe and soft landings on the lunar surface, conduct in-situ scientific experiments, and rove on the Moon.

Interest is generated by the potential presence of water in permanently darkened regions surrounding the south pole of the Moon. Chandrayaan 3's lander and rover will be able to explore the lunar south pole for one lunar day (or roughly 14 days on Earth). Yet according to ISRO officials, it's still possible that the lander module won't activate for another lunar day.

The Indian space programme pioneer Vikram Sarabhai has been honoured with the name "Vikram" for the lander. The box-shaped lander has four landing legs, four landing thrusters, and a mass of 1749.86 kg, including 26 kg for the rover. It is capable of producing 738 W utilising side-mounted solar panels. Around 5:45 IST, the Vikram lander will start its final descent with the rover to the south pole of the Moon, and it will land there roughly 19 minutes later.

Expect landing to go according to "plan A," says an ex-ISRO scientist

*Thus far, so good, and we anticipate being able to land today in accordance with plan "A." Like everyone else, I am eagerly anticipating: Awarded Padmashree M. Annadurai

*After Chandrayaan-1 discovered water, people tried to view the moon in a new way.

Daily updates on Chandrayaan-3 from the Russian consul general

Everyone in India is anxiously anticipating that to occur. Everyone has high hopes, and I am eagerly anticipating the rover's successful landing on the Moon's surface as well: South India's Russian consul general, Oleg Nikolayevich Avdeev

The final 20 minutes of Chandrayaan-3 would be "most demanding"

It will be the most important turning point for planetary exploration in terms of the Indian space programme. The hardest part of this trip will be the final 20 minutes as we descend from the lunar orbit to the surface of the moon: G Madhavan Nair, former ISRO director
