The results of this year's NEET-UG test were released by the National Testing Agency on Tuesday night. Prabanjan J of Tamil Nadu and OBC applicant Bora Varun Chakravarthi of Andhra Pradesh both achieved a flawless 720 (99.99 percentile) to be named joint top scorers. Pranjal Aggarwal, a student from Punjab, won the NEET-UG competition for women, earning an overall ranking of 4 with 715 points.

NEW DELHI: The results of this year's NEET-UG exam, which were released by the National Testing Agency on Tuesday night, showed that Tamil Nadu's Prabanjan J and Andhra Pradesh's Bora Varun Chakravarthi, an OBC applicant, both achieved perfect scores of 720 (99.99 percentile). They were thus named joint top scorers of the exam.
There are a total of 11 OBC candidates, two SC candidates, and one EWS candidate in the top 50, including Kaustav Bauri, a Tamil Nadu-based SC applicant who received 716 marks to place third overall.

Out of 20.4 lakh applicants, 11.45 lakh have passed the medical entrance exam. The most qualified candidates among the states are in Uttar Pradesh (1.4 lakh), followed by Maharashtra (1.3 lakh), and Rajasthan (1.2 lakh) (over 1 lakh).
From 2022 to this year, there were 15.5% more candidates.

Pranjal Aggarwal, a student from Punjab, won the NEET-UG competition for women, earning an overall ranking of 4 with 715 points. In total, 16 contestants received 715 out of 720 possible points, earning them all-India rankings ranging from 4 to 19.
The candidate with the higher score in biology is rated above the rest, according to a senior NTA official, when candidates with the same grades are given ranks. If two students receive similar scores in biology, the same procedure is followed in chemistry and physics. Even after this, the elder applicant will be ranked higher if the scores are the same.

It's interesting that four of the top 10 candidates are from Tamil Nadu, a state that has been against the national medical admission exam. Eight of the top 50 applicants are from Delhi, followed by seven from Rajasthan and six from Tamil Nadu in terms of state representation.
Compared to last year, when 1.3 lakh more female candidates qualified, there were almost 1.6 lakh more qualified female candidates overall. The other two states in the top five are Kerala and Karnataka, where over 75,000 applicants each passed the exam.

The NEET-UG 2023 test was held on May 7 and had the highest turnout, with 97.7% of the roughly 20.9 lakh applicants showing up. The medical entry scored 94.2% in 2017 while scoring 97% in 2018. By NTA, seven instances of unfair practises have been found. Because to the high aspirant scores, this year's qualifying marks range was much wider than it was in 2022. However, the cut-off for OBC, SC, and ST raised to 136-107 from 116-93 in 2022, while the range of qualifying marks for general and EWS category had been set at 720-137 as opposed to 715-117 in 2022.For general/EWS PwD applicants, the qualifying mark range is 136–121, up from 116–105 in 2022. The qualifying score range for OBC and SC applicants who are disabled this year is 120-108, an increase from 104-93.

The 15% All India Quota seats, deemed universities, central universities, seats for ESIC and AFMC, BHU, and AMU will all be counselled for by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), according to a statement from NTA. For further details, candidates can visit the website www.mcc.nic.in. In accordance with the DGHS's instructions, candidates will apply for 15% All-India quota seats, and counselling will end after all available seats have been filled. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's website and the state's medical education directorates' website will both have information on the specifics and timing of counselling.
