Bengaluru experiences torrential rain, and a man drowns in a storm drain.
A 31-year-old man perished in a storm drain on Sunday in Bengaluru following a significant downpour. Authorities claimed Lokesh disregarded homeowners' concerns and entered the drain to measure the water depth. He was carried away by the water's force, and his body was discovered 12 kilometres distant in Byatarayanapura in another drain.
"Passersby cautioned him against entering the sea due to its strong current. Nonetheless, he chose not to pay attention and entered the drain, a police officer stated.
Following the significant rain on Sunday, this was the second death that was reported. 22-year-old Bhanu Rekha, an employee of Infosys, perished when her automobile became stranded in neck-deep water at an underpass. Five of her family members were saved.
Siddaramaiah, the chief minister of Karnataka, met Rekha's family in a hospital and offered them a 5 lakh settlement as well as free medical care.
Tushar Girinath, chief commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, said the civic organisation would look into how the car managed to get through the barred subway.
DK Shivakumar, the state's deputy chief minister, said on Monday that he has requested a report on every subway in the state after inspecting the area on Sunday night. "Things wouldn't happen overnight, but they would all be done to prevent another disaster like this. Protecting our citizens is our responsibility.
