New Delhi, India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was told this morning at a meeting of BJP MPs in parliament that Covid vaccinations for children will be available in a matter of days.

According to reports, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated during a meeting of the BJP’s parliamentary party that the government will likely begin immunizing infants next month.

Experts believe this will be a significant step in breaking the transmission cycle and reopening schools across the country, despite concerns of a possible third Covid wave.

Dr. NK Arora, the director of the National Expert Group on Vaccines, told NDTV earlier this month that immunization for children would begin in September with the Zydus vaccine for youngsters aged 12 to 18.

Children’s vaccinations are being tested by Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Zydus Cadila’s candidate. The findings of the Covaxin trials should be available by September, according to AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria.

Vaccinations for youngsters might begin as early as September, according to Dr. Guleria.

“Zydus, I believe, has already completed the trials and is awaiting emergency approval. By August or September, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin studies should be completed, and we should have received permission. The FDA has already authorized the Pfizer vaccine (US regulator – Food and Drug Administration). Hopefully, by September, we will be able to begin immunizing youngsters, which will be a significant step toward breaking the transmission chain “NDTV spoke with Dr. Guleria.
