From the India Today News Desk: A 56-year-old man was detained at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) for smoking bidi in midair while aboard an Akasa Air flight with a destination of Bengaluru. The airline's duty manager reported the incident to KIA police as soon as they arrived at the airport. The person was accused of putting the lives of other travellers in jeopardy.

Praveen Kumar, the defendant, is a native of the Marwar district of Rajasthan. When he got on the plane in Ahmedabad, the airline staff discovered him smoking in the bathroom.

Thereafter, Kumar was taken to Bengaluru Central Jail, where he allegedly told the police that it was his first trip ever and that he was unaware of the regulations.

Smoking is completely forbidden aboard aeroplanes, including the use of e-cigarettes.

"I frequently use the train, and I smoke in the bathroom. I chose to smoke a bidi, thinking that I could do the same thing here "According to the Times of India's report, the culprit informed police.

Two people were detained earlier this year for smoking inside an aeroplane.
