Dantewada: According to Bastar Police, the deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that killed 10 District Reserve Guard (DRG) members and a civilian motorist in the insurgency-hit Dantewada area was put under the road a few months ago by excavating a tunnel through a "foxhole mechanism."
"Occasionally, de-mining is carried out on the aforementioned route. Initially, it appears that the IED was buried far below the road using a "foxhole mechanism" (a method of tunnelling), which prevented its detection during the demining operation "the police stated.

According to the authorities, the initial investigation showed that the IED was planted around 1.5 to 2 months ago by excavating a tunnel along the road, and the cable connecting it was buried 2-3 inches below the surface.
