India records 15,823 new Covid cases

According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India added 15,823 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections to 3,40,01,743, while the national Covid recovery rate increased to 98.06 percent.

According to data updated at 8 a.m., the death toll had risen to 4,51,189, including 226 new fatalities.

For the past 19 days, the daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000, and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for the past 108 days.

The number of active cases has dropped to 2,07,653, the lowest in 214 days, accounting for 0.61 percent of all infections, while the national Covid recovery rate has reached 98.06 percent, according to the ministry.

In the last 24 hours, the active Covid caseload has decreased by 7,247 cases.

The daily positive rate was 1.19 percent on average. For the past 44 days, it has been less than three percent.

The optimism rate for the week was 1.46 percent. According to the ministry, it has been below 3% for the past 110 days.

On Tuesday, a total of 13,25,399 tests were performed, bringing the total number of tests for Covid-19 detection across the country to 58,63,63,442.

The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 33342901, with a 1.33 percent case fatality rate.

There have been 4,511,189 deaths reported across the country, with 1,39,621 deaths in Maharashtra, 37,906 in Karnataka, 35,814 in Tamil Nadu, 26,448 in Kerala, 25,089 in Delhi, 22,896 in Uttar Pradesh, and 18,924 in West Bengal.

More than 70% of the deaths, according to the ministry, were caused by comorbidities.
