A couple believed to be the masterminds of the multi-million dollar robbery in Ludhiana was detained while they were travelling to a pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand to offer thanks for the accomplishment of their objective, a Punjab Police officer said on Saturday.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav recognised the two as fugitive Mandeep Kaur and her husband Jaswinder Singh.

The two were apprehended close to Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand, according to Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu, who was speaking to reporters in Ludhiana.

To show gratitude for the "success" of their mission, they had travelled to the pilgrimage site. He claimed that the pair was stopped on their way home.

He stated that the couple also had plans to travel to Haridwar and Kedarnath.

According to Sidhu, the police were informed that the two might attempt to flee to a foreign nation via Nepal but were unable to do so because of the lookout notice that had been issued.

Police said that they also recovered money from their possession, totaling 21 lakh.

According to Sidhu, a total of 5.96 crore has so far been recovered.

According to the police, their accomplice Gaurav alias Gulshan was also taken into custody from Gidderbaha, bringing the total number of suspects apprehended to date to nine.

On June 10, armed robbers attacked security personnel at the CMS Securities office in Ludhiana's New Rajguru Nagar neighbourhood and fled with cash estimated to be worth more than 8 crore.

DGP Yadav stated in a tweet, "After capturing fugitive Mandeep Kaur at Mona and her husband Jaswinder Singh from #Uttarakhand, @Ludhiana Police & the Counter Intelligence unit are proud of their work in solving the CMS Cash Robbery Case. In less than 100 hours, the #LudhianaCashVanRobbery's mastermind was captured." The multi-crore robbery was solved by police teams using a professional and scientific method, the speaker continued.
