On Monday, May 29, Indian Railways will start running the 18th Vande Bharat Express. This would be the first Vande Bharat Express to run through Assam and the Northeast region of India. The train would run from Assam's Guwahati to West Bengal's New Jalpaiguri (NJP). After the Howrah-NJP Vande Bharat Express and the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express, this will be West Bengal's third Vande Bharat. Except for Tuesday, the train will run on all other days of the week.

The Guwahati-NJP Vande Bharat Express will go from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri in 5 hours and 30 minutes, while the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, which is now the quickest train, needs 6 hours and 30 minutes to complete the same distance.

People in the area would have access to modern Vande Bharat Express trains for quick and comfortable travel. Also, it will increase travel to the area. Compared to the currently fastest train that connects Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri, the train will assist reduce travel time by around an hour. The current fastest train currently takes 6 hours and 30 minutes to complete the same distance as Vande Bharat. At the time the copy was published, the IRCTC website still did not have the fare chart.

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will use video conferencing to officially launch Assam's first Vande Bharat Express at noon on Monday (PMO).

Guwahati-NJP Vande Bharat Express schedule: The Guwahati-NJP Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22228) will depart from Guwahati at 16:30 and arrive in NJP at 22:00 after travelling 409 kilometres. The train will make stops at New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, New Alipurduar, and New Coochbehar before arriving at NJP to finish its journey. The train will stop in Kamakhya at 16:40 and leave at 16:42; it will stop in New Bongaigaon at 18:35 and leave at 18:36; it will stop in Kokrajhar at 18:56 and leave at 18:57; it will stop in New Alipurduar at 19:48 and leave at 19:49; it will stop in New Cooch Behar at 20:02 and leave at 20:03; and it will stop in NJP at 22:00.

Meanwhile, the 409-kilometer NJP-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22227) will depart from NJP at 06:10 and arrive in Guwahati at 11:40. New Coochbehar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, Kamakhya, and Guwahati would all be stops along the train's route.

The train will arrive in New Cooch Behar at 7:35 and depart at 7:36; it will then arrive in New Alipurduar at 7:50 and depart at 7:51; it will then arrive in Kokrajhar at 8:40 and depart at 8:41; it will then arrive in New Bongaigaon at 9:13 and depart at 9:14; and it will finally arrive in Guwahati at 11:40.

The train will stop at New Cooch Behar at 7:35 and leave at 7:36, stop at New Alipurduar at 7:50 and leave at 7:51, stop at Kokrajhar at 8:40 and leave at 8:41, stop at New Bongaigaon at 9:13 and leave at 9:14, stop at Kamakhya at 11:18 and leave at 11:20, and finally arrive in Guwahati at 11:40.

182 Route Kms of freshly electrified sections will also receive a dedication by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With faster trains and shorter rail runs, this will aid in providing pollution-free transportation. Also, it will allow trains with electric traction to enter Meghalaya by opening the doors.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will open a newly built DEMU/MEMU shed in Lumding, Assam. The upkeep of DEMU rakes used in this area will be made easier with the aid of this new facility, improving operational viability.

Currently, 34 train services operated by the Indian Railways span 21 states. By June, it hopes to have at least one service operating in seven other states.
