Ladakh: On the shores of Pangong Lake in Ladakh this morning, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his 79th birthday.
On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi rode his bicycle to Pangong Lake in Ladakh. The prayer gathering was conducted this morning to commemorate the birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on the shores of Pangong Lake.

Rajiv Gandhi was born on August 20, 1944, and held the position of 7th Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989.

On the anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi's birth, Congress officials and supporters will honour him in the nation's capital.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi began his two-day visit to the Union Territory in Leh. Later, he made the decision to prolong his trip until August 25.

This is his first trip to Ladakh since Jammu and Kashmir was divided into Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir on August 5, 2019, when Articles 370 and 35 (A) were repealed.

He interacted with young people in Leh on Friday.

Rahul Gandhi will attend a football game in Leh, according to sources within the Congress party.

Rahul Gandhi played football while he was a college student. According to reports, he will also attend the August 25 meeting of the 30-member Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been pitted against Congress and the National Conference in a pre-election alliance for the Kargil council elections planned for September 10.

The Congress MP made two trips to Jammu and Srinagar earlier this year, but he skipped Ladakh.

During his Bharat Jodo Yatra in January, the Congress leader travelled to Jammu and Srinagar. In February, he returned to the Gulmarg ski area on a personal trip.
