According to the IMD projection, isolated locations over Saurashtra and Kachchh in Gujarat are anticipated to see severe to very heavy rainfall with exceptionally heavy precipitation on July 8.


Rain showers, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected in different portions of India through July 9 according to the India Met Department (IMD). Delhi, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh are among the northern Indian states anticipated to experience rain showers through Sunday.

On Thursday, it is expected to rain heavily in isolated areas over Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad.

On the same day, forecasts call for isolated pockets of severe to very heavy rain and exceptionally heavy precipitation over the Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra. It's also possible that isolated areas of Mahe, coastal Karnataka, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat state, and Odisha will get heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

On July 7, the weather office has predicted extremely heavy rainfall in remote areas over Gujarat, as well as heavy to very heavy rain in remote areas over the Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, east Rajasthan, and west Madhya Pradesh.

Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe are other states that are likely to experience heavy rainfall on the same day.

According to the IMD projection, isolated locations over Saurashtra and Kachchh in Gujarat are anticipated to see severe to very heavy rainfall with exceptionally heavy precipitation on July 8.

Also, during the same day, isolated locations in the Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

According to the Met Department, on July 8 there is also a chance of isolated areas of heavy rainfall in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Bihar, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.

For July 9, the weather department's forecast reads: "Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit- Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi; heavy rainfall at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalaya West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Bihar, West Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat state, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra".

A Western Disturbance and its interaction with monsoonal winds are expected to provide localised very heavy rainfall on Sunday over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

A number of locations in India were expected to see thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds until July 9.

On July 6, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds speeding upto 30-40 kmph are also very likely to prevail over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Karnataka.

On July 7, isolated areas of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and Karnataka are anticipated to see thunderstorms with lightning. From July 8 to July 9, isolated areas in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh may also see thunderstorms and lightning.
