Today's key meeting will be held by the health minister under a nationwide heatwave.

Mansukh Mandaviya, the health minister of New Delhi, will preside over a high-level meeting today to assess the nation's readiness as some states continue to struggle with extreme heat waves.
In a number of places, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Odisha, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, among others, the weather agency has forecast extreme to very severe heatwave conditions.

Deaths from heat stroke have been reported in a number of states recently, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha.

In Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, 54 people have perished and about 400 more have been hospitalised due to the area's extreme heat.

The hospital has become overcrowded as a result of the abrupt rise in fatalities and the number of patients being admitted with fever, respiratory problems, and other problems; this has alerted the personnel.

Some states have extended their summer vacations in reaction to the excessive heat, which has been stifling.

The majority of India is expected to see above-normal maximum temperatures from April through June, according to earlier predictions from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

"Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal are experiencing a heatwave. The IMD issued an orange alert in these areas as a result. The heatwave is also having an impact on coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana "Naresh Kumar, an IMD scientist, had stated.
