On the eve of the season opening, CSK revealed that Dhoni had given over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja, bringing an end to MSD's illustrious 12-year IPL run as captain of the Chennai Super Kings. While the majority of the team remained with CSK, newcomers like as Shivam Dube, Mahesh Theekshana, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, and others joined the squad.
