'Are you sure you don't want to captain for another season?' I inquired. 'He declined': CSK batter exposes Dhoni's discussion
MS Dhoni pulled off a... well, MS Dhoni, just ahead of the start of the IPL 2022. On the eve of the season opening, CSK revealed that Dhoni had given over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja, bringing an end to MSD's illustrious 12-year IPL run as captain of the Chennai Super Kings. While a change of guard was predicted, picture the misery of those players who had just joined CSK and were hoping to play under Dhoni for the first time.
While the majority of the team remained with CSK, newcomers like as Shivam Dube, Mahesh Theekshana, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, and others joined the squad. Devon Conway, a New Zealand hitter, is one of them, and he is expected to play a key part for CSK this season. Conway, on the other hand, would not be able to play alongside Dhoni. In fact, the opening batter has disclosed that he spoke with Dhoni in the hopes of persuading the former CSK captain to reconsider his mind.
"I wanted to be a part of the renowned MS's team as captain. I struck up a pleasant chat with him. 'Are you sure you don't want to captain for another season so I can play under you?' I said. 'No, but I'm always going to be around,' he replied. It was fantastic', "In a video posted to CSK's Twitter account, Conway stated.
Conway then recounted a special moment with Dhoni and Jadeja that he cherishes, as well as the atmosphere that surrounds the two CSK players.
"I had lunch a few days ago and sat between MS and Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja). Just getting to know them better was fantastic. They're just regular folks, adult men who are down to earth. They don't have an aura about them, and they're easy to get along with and chat to. So it's been a genuine pleasure to meet with those two Indian cricket legends "he stated
