According to a Punjab Cricket Association official, the BCCI would not allow any spectators for the upcoming first Test between India and Sri Lanka, which begins on March 4 and will be legendary Virat Kohli's momentous 100th Test.

The decision was made in light of the COVID-19 cases in and around Mohali, as well as the fact that the majority of Indian players will be joining their respective IPL squads shortly after the second Test ends in a bubble-to-bubble transfer.

"Yes, we are not allowing any general spectators as per the directive of the BCCI," senior PCA treasurer RP Singla told PTI on Saturday.

"There are still new COVID cases surfacing in and around Mohali, therefore we should follow all safety precautions." "Of course, the fans miss out because it's the first international match in Mohali in almost three years," Singla added.

PCA, on the other hand, is erecting billboards across the stadium to commemorate Kohli's illustrious cricket career.

"We'll be erecting large billboards, and our PCA Apex Council has voted to congratulate Virat." Depending on BCCI directive, we'll do it at the start or at the end of the game."
