Against the Punjab Kings, the Delhi Capitals dropped multiple catches, leaving Ricky Ponting and Kuldeep Yadav furious

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Wednesday, Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings in an exciting victory, although their fielding performance was far from stellar. DC appeared disciplined in their bowling after putting up a huge score, but their errors on the pitch allowed PBKS to get back into the game. Anrich Nortje dropped Liam Livingstone at deep midwicket, and Yash Dhull failed to dismiss Atharva Taide with an easy catch in the deep. Both batters were left stranded, and there was even a chance for a run-out, but the fielder's throw was completely off-target.

The fielding effort clearly infuriated DC head coach Ricky Ponting, and even Kuldeep Yadav found himself shouting at the fielders when catches continued to fall during the PBKS innings.

With a 15-run victory in the IPL, the troubled Delhi Capitals finally unleashed their full arsenal as they played spoilers to all but eliminate Punjab Kings from play-off contention.

In their penultimate game of the season, Delhi Capitals, who were already out from the playoff chase, finally joined the celebration by scoring an impressive 213/2 after PBKS decided to bowl.

Prithvi Shaw (54; 38b) also hammered a fifty on his homecoming after nearly a month as DC recorded their first 200-plus total of the season, while Rilee Rossouw displayed some superb strokeplay in a 37-ball 82 not out.

In return, despite all the fielding harakiri DC committed, PBKS only managed 198/8 in the allotted 20 overs.

Englishman Liam Livingstone scored 94 runs in 48 balls, including up to nine sixes and five fours, however it was insufficient since the total was too high.
