8 wickets were taken by Shardul Thakur in ODIs against the West Indies.

With 8 wickets in the three games of the ODI series against the West Indies, India's pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur finished first in wicket-taking. With his effort against the West Indies on Tuesday, Shardul also attained a 50-wicket milestone since the 2019 ODI World Cup's end. Shardul is an interesting bowler because he is the only one on the Indian team to have taken 50 victims during this time. Kuldeep Yadav (46), Mohammed Siraj (43), and Yuzvendra Chahal are some of the people who will come after him (37).

Many of the top players rested during the India vs. West Indies ODI series. Veteran batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were not selected for the second or third ODI teams, and players like Mohammed Shami and Mohammad Siraj had no part to play in the three games.

In the absence of some seniors, Shardul asserted himself by becoming India's leading wicket-taker.

Shardul acknowledged his satisfaction with what he accomplished in the series after the game.

"I am pleased with my eight wicket haul in this series. We wait years for this chance as cricket players; sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don't.

After the game, Shardul commented, "Whichever series I play, that always increase my confidence since I am only adding experience to my profession."

In the press conference following the game, he remarked, "I never consider that I have to play to seal my spot because I can't play with that mentality and I am not that type of player.

Shardul's chances of being included in the squads for the upcoming World Cup and the Asia Cup have increased as a result of his performance in the ODI series. Jasprit Bumrah's anticipated return, though, will make it extremely difficult to get a spot on the team.
