India versus Sri Lanka 2021: As a captain, my goal is to keep everyone happy, says Shikhar Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan claims he has a strong relationship with the series’ head coach, the great Rahul Dravid.

Shikhar Dhawan, who has been given the captaincy for the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka, believes that leadership is all about keeping the flock together and in a good mood. After Virat Kohli and other important players were flown to England for the WTC Final against New Zealand and the five-Test series against the hosts, the left-handed opener was given command of the squad. The limited-overs trip to Sri Lanka, which will include three ODIs and as many T20s, will begin on July 18 in Colombo.

“Becoming the captain of the Indian team is a significant milestone for me. As a leader, the most important thing for me is to keep everyone united and happy,” Dhawan said on Star Sports’ “Follow the Blues.”

“We have a wonderful group of guys, great support personnel, and we’ve also worked early.”

Dhawan claims he has a strong relationship with the series’ head coach, the great Rahul Dravid. Rahul Bhai and I get along swimmingly. I played against him when I first started playing Ranji Trophy, and I’ve known him ever since. I was the captain and he was the coach when I went to play India A, so there was contact.

“We used to travel to NCA for approximately 20 days before he became the director, so we had a lot of interaction, and now we have fantastic chemistry. And now since we’ll be able to play six matches together, it’ll be a lot of fun, and I think we’ll all get along fine,” he added.

Many uncapped players, such as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Chetan Sakariya, have been chosen by the selectors, and Dhawan wants the kids to enjoy their adventure. “It’s great to have the kids join the team and see their aspirations come true. It’s significant that these young people have come from their different hometowns with certain goals in mind, and those goals are being realized.

“They should now appreciate the path that led them to team India, and they should understand the importance of their strength and how to develop it,” he added.

Both the elders and the younger members of the squad will benefit from each other, according to Dhawan. “Seniors are on the squad, so the younger players will learn from them, and we will learn from the older players. When I meet young people, they frequently have new perspectives, and I strive to learn things that can benefit us,” Dhawan said.
