India vs. Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled for October 14

Tuesday, August 2: The eagerly awaited India-Pakistan match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will now take place on October 14 rather than October 15, according to ESPNCricinfo on Wednesday.

ESPNCricinfo understands that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved the modification, despite the International Cricket Council (ICC) not yet releasing a revised World Cup schedule, which is anticipated to be issued this week. As first said, the location will be the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

The time adjustment for the tournament's marquee match has an effect on Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka as well. Although it will still take place in Hyderabad as originally planned, it will now take place on October 10 rather than October 12, giving Pakistan extra time to prepare for two matches.

The original date of the India-Pakistan game fell on the first day of the Hindu holiday of "Navaratri," necessitating a change in the game's schedule. The neighbourhood police are worried that it will be challenging to provide sufficient security on that day. The International Cricket Council (ICC) informed the PCB of this adjustment in a letter a few days ago, and the board approved it.

Nevertheless, Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has stated that the clash with "Navaratri" was not the cause of the move. He had previously stated that the tournament schedule would be modified as a result of requests from some full ICC members.

Several teams and matches will be impacted by the change in the India-Pakistan schedule. A doubleheader on October 14 will also feature matches between Afghanistan and England in Delhi and Bangladesh and New Zealand in Chennai, with the latter matchup perhaps taking place a day earlier on October 13.

Only two months before the World Cup, which begins on October 5, the timetable has changed. The original plan was released in June following a number of delays. It was made public by the ICC and BCCI with only 100 days to the competition. In contrast, the schedules for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, which was hosted by Australia and New Zealand, and the 2019 Cricket World Cup, which will be held in England and Wales, were made public more than a year in advance.

The opening match of the tournament will take place in Ahmedabad between the reigning champions England and the finalists from the previous year, New Zealand. BCCI and ICC have not yet made any announcements regarding ticket sales.
