IPL 2023: As a result of these factors, Prithvi Shaw was left off the Delhi Capitals' starting lineup.
Due to his unsatisfactory performance in IPL 2023, Prithvi Shaw will not play for the Delhi Capitals against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite Ricky Ponting's support, the young player has struggled throughout the tournament, scoring just 47 runs in six innings. In the last three games, he was eventually employed as an Impact Player option; however, Sarfaraz Khan has since taken his spot.
Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull attacked Shaw for his lack of effort and fitness and said he wasn't surprised that he was fired. Doull mentioned an instance in DC's game against RCB last week where Shaw, despite being inattentive in his jog between the wickets, denied skipper David Warner a single. He thinks that gamers may regret doing these seemingly insignificant acts in the game. Doull believes that Shaw is suffering as a result of failing to alter his strategy.
On the other hand, DC skipper Warner has full confidence that Shaw will be working to get back into the team, but that he needs to understand where he is at in his game. With Shaw's record-breaking triple century in the Ranji Trophy and his success in the domestic season across formats, Warner believes that Shaw is hungry and determined to get back into the team. However, he will have to work on his fitness and scoring to prove himself again.
It remains to be seen whether Shaw can bounce back and earn his place in the team again. For now, Sarfaraz Khan has been given the opportunity to impress for the Delhi Capitals against SRH.
