On Sunday at Eden Gardens, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders with a decisive 49-run victory with to stunning half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway, and Shivam Dube. Rinku Singh battled valiantly for Kolkata Knight Riders throughout the high-scoring thriller, but he was unable to lead his team to victory in the 236-run chase. The hosts were held to 186/8 as Rinku continued his 53-match winning streak.

The entirety of the game was controlled by Chennai Super Kings, who put enormous pressure on Kolkata Knight Riders to meet a high necessary run rate during the chase.

With just one run on the board while attempting to reach the goal, KKR lost their openers Sunil Narine (1) and Narayan Jagadeesan (1). Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana were under intense pressure to reignite the chase, but the CSK bowlers were disciplined with their line and length and produced several dot balls to make matters worse for KKR.

The pair embarked up a 45-run third-wicket stand, but CSK struck again in quick succession to get rid of Venkatesh and Rana, putting KKR in trouble.

With a huge 61-run knock off only 26 balls, Jason Roy gave KKR some hope. With him in the middle, the English batter smacked five sixes and five fours, keeping KKR in the hunt. Before Maheesh Theekshana castled him with a yorker, he destroyed the Chennai Super Kings at will.
