Report card from T20 World Cup warm-up match between India and Australia: Rohit Sharma returns to form, R Ashwin shines
The following is a report card for the warm-up game between India and Australia (players who batted and bowled):
Rohit Sharma (10/10): Rohit Sharma took the game by storm, starting the batting and then hitting 60 runs in 41 balls to set his team up for a 154-run chase. As captain, he also rotated his bowlers brilliantly.
KL Rahul (9/10): KL Rahul has confirmed his spot as an opener, scoring 39 runs in 31 balls to give India a great start in the chase once again.
Suryakumar Yadav (8/10): Batting at No. 3, Suryakumar Yadav returned to form, smashing 38* runs in 27 balls to help his team clinch the chase.
Hardik Pandya (7/10): Rohit Sharma returned to the hut to give Hardik Pandya time to bat and regain his form, and the allrounder did superbly to strike 14* in 8 balls and help India win the match with a six.
Ravindra Jadeja (5/10): Although Ravindra Jadeja did not bat, he bowled well and took a crucial wicket. However, in his four overs, he let up 35 runs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (6/10): Bhuvneshwar Kumar was much better against Australia, scooping up Steve Smith's crucial wicket, but he is still not at his best.
Shardul Thakur (4/10): Shardul Thakur is likely to replace Bhuvneshwar Kumar if he struggles in the series. However, the pacer needs to improve his game, as he handed up 30 runs against Australia.
Rahul Chahar (6/10): Rahul Chahar slowed the run pace in the middle overs and also picked up a wicket after some excellent guidance from the captain. But he'll have to do a lot more to be chosen above Ashwin and Jadeja.
R Ashwin (9/10): R Ashwin was the master of India's bowling assault, starting with the new ball and scooping up two wickets in two overs while allowing only 8 runs to be scored. He might also bowl with the new ball in the World Cup.
Varun Chakravarthy (3/10): Varun Chakravarthy too struggled, conceding 23 runs in two overs.
Virat Kohli (2/10): If Pandya isn't up to the task, Kohli maybe India's sixth bowling option. He did a good job with the ball.
