New Delhi, India: It’s no secret that Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni are very good friends. They shared the changing room as members of the Indian national team, and they continue to do so with the Chennai Super Kings. Raina once again attested to the relationship the two have last year. Raina announced his retirement from international cricket just minutes after Dhoni revealed his decision on Instagram.

There is a lot of conjecture over Dhoni’s future at the organization now that he is 40 and out of form with the bat. Raina recently told News 24 Sports that despite having four or five years of cricket remaining in him, he will not play in the IPL if Dhoni does not.

“I have four to five years left in me,” she says. This year’s IPL will be followed by two additional teams the following year. But I suppose I’ll stick to playing for CSK till I retire. I’m hoping we have a good year this year. I will not play next season if Dhoni bhaai does not. We’ve been playing (for CSK) since 2008… If we win this year, I’ll persuade him to come back next year,” Raina remarked.

Raina went on to clarify the situation once again.

“I’ll give it my all. I don’t think I’ll play for any IPL team if he doesn’t participate.”

CSK has rebounded this year after coming last in the now-suspended IPL after finishing last in 2020. When the season restarts, they appear to be in strong shape to make the playoffs.

Despite CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan’s assurance that Dhoni will continue to represent the franchise, Dhoni has not been in strong form during the last two seasons.
