Despite its scathing condemnations of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken claims that the US is not attempting to destabilise Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Mr. Blinken made his remarks a day after President Joe Biden remarked of Putin at a speech in Warsaw, "For God's sake, this man cannot continue in power."

Mr. Blinken said Mr. Biden's message was that "Putin cannot be empowered to wage war or engage in aggression against Ukraine or anyone else" at a news conference in Jerusalem.

"We do not have a policy of regime change in Russia, or anywhere else for that matter," he added, adding that the US has frequently said.

"It is up to the people of the country in question in this case, as it is in any case." Mr. Blinken stated, "It is up to the Russian people."
